In Louis Pasteur chart, combinations of a scientist-bacteriologist are clearly visible. According to the criterias given in the book "Planets and education" written by Naval Singh, Jupiter (living organisms) and its connection with the technical planets play an important role in the study of microbiology. Since this science is related to microscopic analysis, Rahu, Ketu, Moon and water signs should also be involved. In the book, the emphasis is on the relationship of these planets and signs with the 5th house, which is responsible for education, but since Pasteur did not receive a formal medical or biological education, it would be more correct to consider the 10th house and influences on it.

So, in the chart, the Moon is the lord of the 10th house and located in Moolatrikona in the 8th house of research, in conjunction with Jupiter. The Moon is the dispositor of Ketu, the significator of bacteria and viruses, which is placed in the 10th house in both Rasi and Dasamsa. The Lagna lord and the lord of thr 8th house Venus connects within one degree with the Sun, ahead of him, as a result of which he receives extra strength. The fifth house, which is responsible for the intellect, is ruled by weakened retrograde Saturn, located in the 7th house in. Saturn is, however, neutralized firstly being in a Kendra from Lagna and, secondly, due to the exaltation of Mars, which he aspects in the 4th house. Rahu is also in the 4th house in the Moon Nakshatra and is aspected by Jupiter from the 8th house.

In navamsa Jupiter and Moon are in mutual aspect on the 4/10 house axis, and in Dasamsa on the 5/11 axis. Mars is Vargottama in exaltation and is also the lord of the Navamsa and Dasamsa Lagna, and in the Navamsa he aspects the Moon in the 10th house. Rahu is placed in the 7th house in Navamsa and aspects the Navamsa Lagna and Mars. Thus, the connection of the technical planets (Mars and Rahu) with the Moon and Jupiter for work in the field of chemistry and biology is confirmed.

Note also that the 5th lord Saturn is in Ashwini, the Nakshatra of Ketu, which signifies physicians, doctors. Mercury, the Karaka of intellectual knowledge, is also in the Nakshatra of Ketu, and Ketu itself is in Cancer, a watery sign, in the Nakshatra of Ashlesha, which is symbolized by a snake (medical emblem). Parivartana Yoga between Mars and Saturn, as well as Venus and Jupiter, strengthen the first general background of the chart and highlight the 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th houses on the plan.

Life events: Lagna confirmed

Pasteur married on 29 May 1849 during Jupiter \ Saturn Dasa. In the birth chart, Jupiter is the lord of Upapada (UL) and Saturn is in the 7th house.

He had five children, only two of whom survived to adulthood. Note the affliction of the 5th lord, retrograde debilitated Saturn aspected by exalted Mars. In Saptamsa, Mars, the Lagna lord, is debilitated and the 5th house receives the destructive aspect of Saturn from the 8th house.

Pasteur became professor of chemistry at the University of Strasbourg in 1848 during Jupiter \ Jupiter Dasa. Jupiter, the Karaka of teaching, is placed in the 8th house in the birth chart in conjunction with Moon, the 10th lord, the Karaka of chemistry. In Navamsa, Jupiter is the 5th lord and is aspected by the 10th lord Sun, the 7th lord Venus and the Moon.

Pasteur solved the problem of the nature of tartaric acid in 1849 during Jupiter \ Saturn Dasa. Jupiter is in the 8th house of research and strong due to Parivartana Yoga, and Saturn is the 5th lord.

In 1854 he becase a superintendent of the new university college of natural sciences at Lille, and in 1856 he was appointed administrator and director of scientific research at the Higher School. All this happened during Jupiter \ Venus Dasa. As already noted, a powerful Parivartana Yoga between the Lagna lord and Jupiter, their mutual aspect in Navamsa and conjunction with the Sun (Karaka of administration) in Leo's own sign on the 4/10 house axis played a key role.

Pasteur completed his first exploration of the process that would come to be known as "pasteurization" on 20 April 1862, at the very end of the Jupiter \ Rahu \ Mars Dasa. Note the significance of Rahu aspecting the Moon in the 8th house: in this process the milk was heated to kill the bacteria it contained.

In 1865 he was asked to help the silk industry in southern France, where there was an epidemic among the silkworm. Without any experience in this area, he identified as the cause of the epidemic an infection caused by parasites, and suggested that only eggs unaffected by the disease be selected. Through his sound advice, the industry was saved. At that time Saturn \ Saturn Dasa was running. Saturn is the 5th lord and is in the Nakshatra of Ketu and aspecting Rahu. Note the role of Rahu and Ketu in the study of epidemics and infections whicha are caused by parasites.

Pasteur created the first rabies vaccine by testing it on rabbits. He used this vaccine on 6 July 1885 to treat 9-year-old Josef Meister, who had been bitten by a rabid dog. The treatment proved successful, leading to the creation of many other vaccines. Also on the basis of this achievement, the 1st of the Pasteur Institutes was created. At that time Mercury \ Venus Dasa was running. The two planets are in conjunction in the 3rd house and are associated with the 8th house.

In 1895, during the Mercury \ Jupiter Dasa, he was awarded the Leeuwenhoek medal, the highest award in the field of microbiology. Mercury rules the 9th house, in conjunct with the Lagna lord Venus and the Sun, the 11th lord (house of fame and honor). This is an excellent combination for international recognition. Jupiter is in conjunction with the Moon, the exalted lord of the 10th house, and forms Gaja Kesari Yoga.

Disease and death

A tragic event that befell him in the middle of his life was partial paralysis caused by a cerebral hemorrhage. However, after some time he recovered, and after his death, an autopsy showed that most of his brain was destroyed. How true this is, we can only guess, but one can see the possible prerequisites for this disease in his horoscope. Diseases of the head, especially those related to circulatory disorders, are associated with the defeat of the Moon, the significator of the blood in the human body. The Moon in Rasi is in the 8th house along with retrograde Jupiter, the 6th lord of diseases. Moon gets the afflictive aspect of Rahu. Debilitated retrograde Saturn in Aries, the sign that represents the head of the Kalapurusha, worsens the situation even more. According to some reports, the accident happened to him in 1868. At that time Saturn \ Ketu Dasa was running, which speaks for itself.

Pasteur died on 28 September 1895 during Mercury \ Saturn Dasa. In the birth chart, Mercury is the indirect initiator of death, since it owns the 2nd house from the Moon, but Saturn plays the role of a key planet that causes death, since it is in the 7th house (Maraka Sthana), retrograde and aspected by Mars. Mars is the lord of the 2nd house (another Maraka Sthana) as well as the 64th Navamsa from the Moon, which plays a significant role in matters relating to health and longevity.
