The death of Princess Diana in the car accident. Jyotish astrological analysis

Beginning astrologers often make one common mistake — they consider planetary periods in isolation from transits, which is unacceptable. Jyotish is a multi-faceted diamond, where each facet is a piece of a mosaic, and the more such pieces we collect, the deeper the horoscope will reveal itself to us. Using the example of Princess Diana's chart, let's look at how periods (Dasa), transits (Gochara), and solar return chart (Varsha Pravesh or Varshaphala) produced a mix of unfavorable factors that led to her death in a car accident in August 1997.

First of all, it should be noted that in some astrology textbooks and in the Web, I have repeatedly met the horoscope of Princess Diana with Sagittarius Lagna. For some reason that I still do not understand, astrologers do not take into account the daylight saving time that was in place at that time in UK. Even K.N. Rao in his book "Planets and Children" cited her chart with the lagna in Sagittarius and had no doubt that it was correct. However, in his book "Ages of 36 and 72: Significant and Critical", published in 2014 he denies what he had previously said. There K.N. Rao states that Scorpio sign is rising, which I completely agree with.

So, before I make my own comment on the Princess Diana chart, let me quote the words of Shri K.N. Rao in regards on what factors, in his opinion, played a fatal role in her tragic death in 1997. After that, I will put all the pieces of the puzzle together.

Diana, Princess of Wales

So, on 31 August 1997, Diana tragically died in a car accident in Paris, along with Dodi al-Fayed and the driver of the Ritz Paris, in the tunnel in front of the Alma bridge on the Seine embankment.

In her horoscope, Jupiter is retrograde and is in position 6/8 with Rahu. Jupiter is in conjunction with retrograde Saturn. Rahu is in conjunction with Mars, the Lagna lord and the lord of the 6th house (house of accidents). This conjunction of Mars and Rahu grips the 4th house of vehicles and the Moon located in it.

According to the Vimsottari Dasa, the period was Jupiter \ Rahu \ Sun. The lord of the second house Jupiter and the lord of the 3rd house Saturn are both retrograde. Rahu is in the 8th from Jupiter and in conjunction with 6th lord Mars — that combination depicts some tragic here. The Sun, the dispositor of Rahu, is in the 8th house. Diana was born in the Mahadasha of Mars. This was the third dasa of Jupiter, which in her case confirmed his maraka status.

According to Yogini Dasa, this fatal accident occurred during the Sun \ Venus \ Mercury period. The Sun is in the 8th house along with the 8th lord Mercury, which is retrograde. Venus is in Vrishabha, a Rasi highly prone to accidents, and aspected by retrograde Jupiter, with the 4th house from Vrishabha heavily afflicted. In the shodasamsha we can see that Mercury retrograde is in the 8th house in Vrishabha Rasi.

On 31 August 1997, Rahu was transiting the sign of Leo, and Mars was in Libra on the Moon. Libra also happens to be the 1st house in Shodasamsa. The exchange of retrograde Jupiter in Capricorn and retrograde Saturn in Pisces definitely pointed to a terrible event. Retrograde Jupiter, retrograde Saturn and Mars — all aspected the Pratyantardasha lord Mercury, placed in Taurus in the 8th house, which led to a tragic end.

Now, let's take a look at the Varshaphala (fruits of the annual chart) for year 1997. Here we see Muntha in the 8th house (house of accidents and sudden/secret events), Mars in the 6th (illness, injury) and Varshesh Venus in the 4th (house of vehicles). Obviously, 1997 promised to be full of dangers for Princess Diana, and if Dasas and Gochara were not so bad, then death could have been avoided.

Thus, we see that Dasa, Gochara, and Varsha Pravesha — all indicated a danger to life. We can dive deeper to consider sub-sub-periods, transits in divisional charts and Varshaphala for each month. And then it is possible to arrive at even more precise results in terms of determining the time of an event.

Well, for those who are still convinced that Diana's lagna is in Sagittarius, it would be interesting to know what motivates your point of view. Share your thoughts in the comments!
