Leo is the sign of the Sun, an odd, that is, a positive, fixed sign of fire, the solar plexus of the Cosmic Man. His symbol is a lion. It indicates the need for order and harmony centered around a central source of will and strength of character.

In Vedic astrology, therefore, the Sun is the principle of light, life and love, our true will and perception. It is the most important factor for determining the spiritual life and potentials of the individual. It represents the soul — the causal body or reincarnating entity — whose will is behind our fate. It is also the mind or the mental principle on a lower level as reason, discernment, clarity and illumination. I A well-placed Sun gives intelligence, perception, strength of will and character. It affords endurance, stamina, vitality, positive spirit, direction, courage, conviction, confidence, leadership, independence and straightforwardness. Without it, whatever we may do or accomplish in life will not be ours and will not give us inner strength or peace. An ill-placed Sun gives lack of intelligence, poor perception, weakness of will and character. It creates lack of endurance, low vitality, melancholy, fear, dependency or servitude, and deviousness or dishonesty.
An overly strong but malefically disposed Sun creates pride, arrogance, tyranny and control. It creates much of the same problems as Mars (or Saturn) when too strong. It can give a deceptive charisma and a dominating personality. When the Sun is strong we outshine everyone else for good or ill, depending on whether its disposition is benefic or malefic, conscious or unconscious.
A weak but spiritually disposed Sun makes us receptive, wanting to do good, and self-effacing. Yet we may lack in confidence and come under the rule of other people. We will seek to sacrifice ourselves but may not know what to give ourselves over to.
The inner purpose of the Sun in the chart is to aid in our transcendence. It takes us beyond things, negating their limitations. It may raise us to a high level outwardly in life but will inwardly push us beyond that. It operates to negate all things into the self. The Sun tends to deny the ordinary activities of life but only to command the extraordinary, the highest and the best.
The Sun will further us in the highest or most grandiose human strivings. It will give the power of independence, the capacity to become a value or a light unto ourselves, and will promote the growth of intelligence. While destructive of form and expression, it elevates the being and the intrinsic worth of things. It does not always give abundance but does give quality. It gives power, fame, mastery, and glory but not always wealth or emotional happiness.
🏠 In 11 house. The Sun in the 11th, as a malefic in an upachaya house, produces excellent results in terms of success and materialistic benefits. The person will be wealthy and fulfill his goals and ambitions in life. He will be highly principled, virtuous, and of great integrity. He is powerful and reaches a high position. The person takes a great interest in gaining wealth and may do so in any number of different ways. He easily gets the better of his enemies or competitors. He will enjoy many powerful or prominent friends and may benefit from the government. Opportunities are plentiful, and investments and speculations will be profitable. There may be few children, or there may be difficulties with them due to the aspect the Sun casts on the 5th house. This position favors the wealth of the father and the relationship with him. As the 11th is a "growing" house, the person's authority, confidence, and power continuously expand.

Common english words like «magnificent», «manor», «major», «mayor», «master», «magic» and «magnanimous» seem to have their root in the first two syllables of the word «Magha». The meanings of these words relate to Magha's functioning at some level or the other.
It is Magha's job to shape the present using the past. Wherever this nakshatra is placed in a chart one will experience the positive effects of one's past karmas. This may manifest as opportunities or favour from those in high positions. These favours are very sudden and based on impulse from those who bestow them.
Its fierceness corresponds to the fierce aspect of Ketu, which is akin to the fierce aspect of Sun. Ketu is the most fierce among planets. It can be as fierce as the mid-summer, mid-afternoon desert Sun. Fierceness as we know is also associated with authority at some level. Authority can either foster magnanimity or produce the merciless tyrants who are blinded by power and authority.
It is a human asterism which brings out the more worldly human side of esoterically oriented Ketu. This is very much a worldly nakshatra which is interested in human affairs. Ketu is known to us as a separative planet which disassociates one from worldly ties, but through this asterism it promotes involvement in mundane affairs for discharging one's worldly duties. It brings out the materially active side of Ketu which is very concerned about social status, prominence and discharging of one's worldly duties. This is why its pitfall lies in making one over ambitious in one's material pursuits. However when working through its higher principal, this asterism has a high degree of idealism even when surrounded by worldly attainments. Ketu is an idealistic planet when functioning in its solar aspect. Ketu is also a naturally rebellious planet and consequently this nakshatra is directly related to all types of revolts against authority.
This is an asterism connected to the sustenance and maintenance aspect of nature. Its primary impulse is to maintain established traditions, organizations and civilizations. This is usually the function of those in positions of authority whom this asterism represents.
Natives with Magha rising or strong Magha influence are easy to spot because of their big noses and regal demeanour. Magha people have middle stature and lion-like top heavy bodies. They have arrogant mannerisms which make them misunderstood in general. Their power lies in covering up weaknesses through reservedness. They usually align their selves with their ancestral lineage and derive pride through a sense of belonging. They are usually magnanimous to those below their station in life. 🟠 In 1 pada. The first pada or quarter of this asterism falls in Aries Navamsa and is ruled by Mars. This is the pada relating to the will power aspect of Magha. This is the pada where the throne is won after the killing of the many headed serpent of Ashlesha. Magha qualities like self assertion, leadership, courage and idealism are displayed here to their fullest.
🌟 Nature and qualities. It is considered a Rakshasa (demonic) nakshatra. Through this classification the ancient seers are giving us a signal that the world of the ancestors is not all benign and godly. There are many bhootas, pretas, pishachasand other types of negative astral entities associated with this nakshatra. Most of the black magic practices involve the summoning and use of these negative entities. Most of these dark occult practices are often done in order to gain typical Magha goals — power, status, fame, fortune, prosperity etc. A statement of caution for the black magic practitioners — «every action has a reaction and everything has its price». It is an Ugra (fierce or aggressive) nakshatra. It is very clear that no throne is attained without overcoming numerous obstacles, enemies and the like. It is Magha's burning pride and ambition that makes it fierce and cruel. Magha sets itself no limits or boundaries when it comes to achieving its goals.
